Sharing Cymbeline Act 1

Dear All,

The Willow Globe Community Company are currently rehearsing Cymbeline on Zoom. We hope to launch the production with an autumn/winter tour; performing finally at the Willow Globe in early summer 2021.

Here is a video the Company made of the opening scene of the play which gives you a brilliant introduction to the story.

We want you to have a go too!

Each month we will provide you with an overview and extracts from each act of Cymbeline. We would like you to read and enjoy these extracts, practise, perform them, even get into character. Then go outside and share Shakespeare’s words with the wind, then make a video of your performance on your mobile phone to share with us.  We will then, with your permission, upload them onto our website to connect us all during this strange time of global isolation through the humanity of Shakespeare’s language

We do hope you will get involved.

We will also over the next few months interview our artistic directors as well as our accomplished collective of associate actors and directors about the plot, themes, characters and text of Cymbeline. We hope these interviews will enthuse, inspire and inform.

To get you started here is Sue telling the story of act 1 in just over 1 minute!

You can find a more detailed breakdown of Act 1 along with the extracts for you to try here.

How to share

If you are able we ask you to then upload your videos onto your own YouTube channel and share the link to us at info@shakespearelink.co.uk. Please make this a  private link and disable comments in the first instance. We promise that the process is fairly straight forward. If you have any difficulties please just contact us, we are eager to help.

Please could you get the videos to us by 11th May.

We can't wait to see what you come up with.
