Midsummer Revels

A one-day arts and nature festival marking the Summer Solstice, held on 21st June at Wilder Pentwyn Farm in partnership with Radnorshire Wildlife Trust.

A gamelan workshop:

On 21 June 2025, after weeks of planning, we left the Willow Globe for the day to celebrate the Summer Solstice with Midsummer Revels - a glorious one-day arts and nature festival held at Wilder Pentwyn Farm in partnership with Radnorshire Wildlife Trust. The free event offered a rich programme of arts and nature-based activities throughout the morning, followed by an afternoon performance of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’. The field was alive with the sound of gamelans, children playing and birdsong, creating a truly joyful atmosphere.

The inaugural Midsummer Revels welcomed over 100 visitors to Pentwyn Farm - the highest footfall the site has ever seen in a single day. The festival succeeded in its ambition to bring arts and nature audiences together: those who came for the Shakespeare left with a new curiosity about the natural world, whilst nature enthusiasts found themselves drawn into the arts. Families, artists and wildlife lovers shared the day, discovering unexpected common ground in the space where creativity and the natural world meet.

Visitor feedback was overwhelmingly positive. As one attendee put it: "It's unusual these days to come to an event without commercial strings attached. It felt genuine and real. The play also happens to be a gem and your 'players' brill."

Following this success, Midsummer Revels will return in 2026 as Shakespeare Link looks to establish the festival as a cherished annual event in the mid-Wales calendar.
