Midsummer Revels
A One-Day Festival of Theatre, Nature & Imagination

Join us for the return of Midsummer Revels, a joyful one-day celebration of nature, creativity and community at the beautiful Llandrindod Lake Amphitheatre. Returning for its second year on Summer Solstice weekend, Midsummer Revels invites audiences of all ages to reconnect with one of the town’s most loved outdoor spaces through arts, nature, play and performance.

Spend the day exploring hands-on workshops, imaginative activities and creative experiences with organisations including Celf o Gwmpas, Radnorshire Wildlife Trust, Panic Circus and Woodland Gamelan. Whether you’d like to make, move, play, picnic or simply soak up the atmosphere, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Designed with families and community at its heart, the festival is a chance to slow down, gather outdoors and celebrate the magic of creativity and the natural world together.

The Tempest – Open-Air Performance

As the day unfolds, settle in for a special open-air performance of The Tempest by the Willow Globe Theatre Company. Filled with magic, mischief and adventure, Shakespeare’s beloved story brings audiences to an enchanted island of powerful storms, playful spirits and strange, wonderful creatures. FAQ’s

Do we just turn up?

Yes - you can turn up at any time in the morning, our activities 10.30 - 2pm allow you to wonder, pause, join in or sit. So arrive at anytime that suits you.

Is the Tempest suitable for children?

Yes - It’s a really family friendly play, there’s magical creatures and some funny characters. We are hoping to have a little prop or guidance sheet for children to help them understand the story. This adaptation here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EMB6OBXEZnE&t=2s can help little audiences feel familiar with the story!

What facilities are on site?

The Amphitheatre is hidden away but directly opposite the lakeside boathouse and the lakeside cafe for any refreshment needs. There are also public toilets in the same vicinity and ample parking up and around the lake and also in the county hall car park, directly opposite the site we’re at.

Where do we park?

You can park in County Hall car park or on the road leading up to the lake. Both options are only a couple of minutes walk to where we will be.

I’m not good on uneven ground, what will it be like for me?

The site is predominantly grass, there is a flatter pathway and a tarmac track leading into the Amphitheatre, depending on which side you come in on there are no steps and the ground should be ok for wheelchairs.

I don’t know the lake very well, how will I find you?

We will have a few sign posts directing people from the main Lake area so you can either head for the lake, county hall, or here’s a dropped pin to the site if you’re walking.
